QUICK SKETCH! (totally not for the thumbnail) (I don't want it to be a body bag)
EMI! WHAT ARE PROPS? WHAT'S THEIR PURPOSE??
The little objects you see in films (or medium... or big, I don't discriminate), whether it be held/owned by a character or just a part of a set, really tells so much about the story and definitely the character themselves! For example, in Star Wars, a character shown with a blue lightsaber is indicated and portrayed as a good guy, while a character shown with a red lightsaber is shown to be the bad guy! In our film we are going to use a select few props that will provide importance to the story and add to our protagonists character!
EMI'S SUPER AWESOME LIST OF PROPS THAT WILL SURELY BE INCLUDED!
CATEGORY ONE: IMPORTANT TO THE STORY PROPS
1. THE BODYBAG!
This prop will be used by the protagonist as she is carrying her boss's corpse inside of it while finding a place to bury him. We will definitely be needing this prop as I am not the strongest human out there and physically can't carry a 135 pound person off the ground without almost going to the afterlife. We are also going to use this in order to prevent dragging a real body on the floor....that would look a little suspicious.
2. THE SHOVEL!
Credits go to Renn, I actually didn't know about this until like 2 seconds ago but Victorian shovels weren't like the typical shovels we have today! These shovels were actually a big piece of medal shaped into a shovel and that was pretty much it! We can't really obtain one of these oldy moldy shovels though due to the fact we have a grand total budget of $0, so we will have to use the lame contemporary ones.
3. DIRT! YES, DIRT!
Since we have a very pricey and grand budget of a pennieless wallet with flies coming out of it, we don't own the property that we are going to be filming on, therefore we kinda can't build a big hole or our poor little high school selves would get fined for property damage. But don't fret super awesome blog readers! We have the solution, and that is dirt! We are going to be using this in order to make viewers think we are digging a hole, but in reality we actually aren't! Yay for illusions!!
CATEGORY TWO: IMPORTANT TO THE CHARACTER PROPS!
1. THE CROSS!
Our protagonist (we still don't have a name yet but that will be revealed soon with the absolute character bible that will be posted momentarily) is going to be religious and we want to use a necklace with a cross on it in order to establish that! In our opener, this prop will be further emphasized with a close up.
2. THE COWBOY HAT!
In order to hide her luxurious and radiant long hair (BHAHAHAHA) and the fact that she is a woman, our protagonist would have to use a cowboy hat in the beginning of the opener to do that! This hat also adds to her character as it covers some of her face, adding to her secretive nature, and also follows the Western convention of cowboy hats!
3. STRING AND PANTS!
String: Our protagonist would have to tie her hair up before doing all the heavy work with burying a corpse! Credits go to Renn again, Victorian women likely used items such as string, bobby pins, clips, and other beauty products and not hair ties in order to tie up their hair, and so this would mean that our character would have to use a string instead of your modern day hair tie! Yay for historical accuracy!
