IT'S OVER, ISN'T IT?

Hey super awesome blog readers, a bit of special post today :)

(cambridge do u like my steven universe reference)

The Cambridge portfolio project has officially concluded! YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!! LETS GOOOO!!! Hours and hours and hours and HOURS SO MANY HOURS of hard work has proven to be finally all worth it in the end!

As arduous as this project may have been at times, I genuinely had such a fun time throughout it all. From getting casted, to designing the characters and costumes, to acting under the blazing sun, to post production, and to the final reflection; I enjoyed just about every single bit of it :)

So now! A reflection! I'm a yapper at heart and a very sentimental person, so STRAP IN! I'm going to TALK.

EMI'S SUPER AWESOME REFLECTION ON THIS SUPER AWESOME PROJECT:

In the first week of this project, I was ecstatic. I still remember talking with my group about what genre we were going to do and the way we all immediately agreed to do a Western Sci-fi was hilarious, here wait let me run back that interaction (paraphrased):

Probably Zach: "So what genre are we going to do?"

"hmmmmmmm"

Renn: "oh em gee what if we do a Western"

All of us: HOLY SHIT

Nico: What if we do a Western Sci-fi??

All of us: HOLLYYYYY SHIITTTTTTT!!!!!!!!

Obviously, if you read one of my very first blog posts on this project, we ended up doing just a Western due to our luxurious, grand, opulent, deluxe, lush budget of a bag of dirt! But nevertheless, feeling that ambition and excitement during that first week was a joy like no other and when it was confirmed that we were sticking with a Western, with me as the starring actress, I was HYPE. I always, since my very birth, thought that Westerns were so badass, and so when I heard I was going to be the face of this awesome Western production I was jumping off the walls!!

I remember the fourth week better than all of the others; the joy I felt while designing our lovely characters and costumes was actually incomprehensible, and to make it even better, they came to life! As someone who has a head FILLED with constant scenarios and creative ideas, I usually have a hard time executing them and therefore fall victim to the slimy hands of inconsistency, but this project has finally let me see my ideas right in front of me! THEY WERE RIGHT THERE! FOR ME TO SEE! AND NOT JUST IN MY HEAD!! HOLY SHAT!!! It was incredible. Since then, Charlotte and Phillip have remained in my imagination and will probably stay there until the next media-adventure-related hyper fixation!

We of course had our challenges with our super awesome Western genre; from the plot to the location, and even thought about switching genres at one point...but thanks to our overpowering dedication, we found a great location (shout out to Vista View Park), wrote an awesome plot, and designed believable characters and costumes! This whole process of ups and downs really proved to me that anything, absolutely anything that you set your mind to can and will be done ♪( ´▽`)!

Both filming days, with their obvious challenges, were insanely successful and hella fun. I learned how to hold a shovel properly, walk better in a straight line (sorta) (I lack in that department), and the amazing power of friendship! Friendship is magic! (reference)

After filming, I saw myself through the lens of a super awesome high quality camera and literally started jumping out of pure joy. I haven't felt that excited since the music marketing project way back in December! HELLA! Witnessing some of the editing being done in chemistry class (shoutout to goated chem buddy Zach) and being apart of the post production stage, whether that be doing voice over or making grunting noises in the middle of a school hallway was so incredibly amazing, and made a hella amount of good memories.

A list of funny moments that happened during production and post production:

-Zach, Nico, and Renn frantically trying to remove my nail polish on filming day 1

-Emi failing to pin down the shovel after a long take

-Emi learning how to hold a shovel after living for 16 years on this great green planet

-Emi getting sprayed by Renn's spray bottle THAT I STILL NEED TO GIVE BACK HOLY SHIT. NOTE TO SELF!

-Nico yapping away about his rectal canal while Tstok was right behind him (BAHAHHAHAHHA I LAUGHED THAT WAS SO FUNNY)

-Recording grunting noises in the 300's hallway (emi caveman?)

At that point, our opener was good, with only the color grading and graphics remaining, but that still meant we had to shift our attention to the final part of this long project: THE CREATIVE CRITICAL REFLECTION! A C! A C! AND AN R! C AND A C AND A R! R AND C! C! c what

The CCR's were overall a very exciting and fun filled experiences, as even more of my creative ideas came to life which was AWESOME!! But the setbacks I had with it were MAJOR. MAAAJORRRRRRR. If you didn't read my last blogpost yet, on Saturday, my old computer decided to run out the door and never ever come back (it died forever), which led to a near breakdown (mental) and a loss in hope and sanity. Completely honest, at that moment I actually thought about quitting, that there was absolutely no way I would be able to rebuild BOTH videos in time before the big due date of March 25th.

But after a while, I remembered what my name was....it was PERSERVERANCE. And so I sucked it up, got my ass back up, and edited both videos. From scratch. AND I COMPLETED THEM IN TIME?????!!!? AND THEY TURNED OUT DECENT?????? GIVE ME A HELL YEAH!!!!!

(you can say it in your head too, that's fine) HELL YEAH!!!

From this whole CCR situation, I am genuinely so proud of myself and everything that I have learned. So many sacrifices were involved with all of production, from multiple mosquito bites, to a broken finger nail, late ass nights, and some of my sanity; it was so worth it. SO WORTH IT! IM SO PROUD! I have become a better thinker (creatively) (don't ask me any math problems), a much better editor (this past week I've seen Premiere Pro more than the outside world), and even matured a little bit! Oh! And learned a VERY important lesson: PLEASPLEEPALPELAPLSPEALAPLDPAS PLEEEASEEEE HOLY SHIT I BEG YOU PLEASE ALWAYS SAVE AND STORE YOUR IMPORTANT PROJECTS IN AN EXTERNAL HARDRIVE!!! PLEASEEEE!!! As cool as I feel after persevering my ass off, I DO. NOT. RECCOMEND. THIS EXPERIENCE. PLEASE GET AN EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE.

After days and days of actual blood, sweat, and especially tears, holy shit I just realized all of those things happened throughout this project, here wait look ur not ready:

Blood: when half of my thumbnail painfully broke off after taking out my phone out of the tripod wayyy to forcefully (lesson learned)

Sweat: Both opener filming days (spray bottle and actual sweat), and CCR filming days! Yes! Even the first one!

Tears: When I lost ALL of my CCR editing progress. Man, can you believe that happened to her? (me?)

Well! Blood, sweat, and tears! That's proof that this project was truly a big deal! It didn't play! IT DID NOT PLAY.

As I was saying!!!

After days and days of actual blood, sweat, and especially tears, before I knew it, this whole project came to it's inevitable end. Am I happy? Glad? Yes. Holy shit yes. I will now be able to receive reasonable amounts of sleep and enjoy my spring break! But am I also sad? Feeling a bit bittersweet? For sure! I'm going to really miss chatting away in here, those awesome late night blog sessions, chilling on the couch in the company of my super awesome family while writing blog posts, (I think I like writing blogs), and most of all being able to hang out a lot more frequently with my super awesome friends:  Zach, Renn, and Nico. I swear each media class since January has been an adventure with them.

And to those very friends, thank you all for being super awesome like always ♪( ´▽`)! Production and post production really wouldn't have been as fun and silly as it was without you guys, and I'm so very incredibly happy I worked with you all on this project! Surrounded by pure talent! Always laughing about something!

But with all of that and probably many other things that I'm most likely forgetting right now, I must now post this blog so I'm not toast tomorrow when I post my final project! This won't be my final goodbye just yet, but pretend it is for emotional value:

Thank you all for following me along the way :) From every joke, yap session, unhinged rant, and drawing, I truly had insane amounts of fun throughout our time together ♪( ´▽`)!

Cya later!

-Emi! :D
